READING: Numbers 1-2. The 12 tribes of Israel were HUGE. Over 600,000 recorded - that was only men over the age of 20 and excluded the tribe of Levi. My ballpark guess is that, by this time, there were about 1.5 million Israelites. Numbers is about 40 years after the exodus from Egypt. They are growing....

Day 37
PICTURE: Superbowl! I had a great time, despite the Packers winning, at the Holsopple house. Good food, cute kids, great company, and the best seat in the house! I got the recliner for coming closest to the returning kickoff yardage...Go me!!!!!!

READING: Leviticus 26-27. A few thoughts as I finished Leviticus...I wonder how Moses remembered everything to tell the Israelites? I know all of this had more meaning back in the day, but it is very specific instructions for everything! I'm beyond grateful that we don't have to live according to these things now. Honestly, I think I would have given up.

Day 36
PICTURE: Holy Snowing! Yes, I took this while I was driving down SR 13 in the blizzard-like snow this morning. Where did it come from?! I wasn't expecting this when I left Upward.

READING: Leviticus 24-25. Today's reading talked about The Year of Jubilee. I had never heard of this. My Bible gave lots of rules and laws about this Year of Jubilee, but I didn't quite get what it was all about. So, I looked it up on the internet. Here is what I found on www.growthingod.org.uk:

"At this year of jubilee all Israelites who had sold themselves into slavery were set free, and all land that had been sold reverted to its original owner. This meant that no Israelite could ever be in permanent slavery; nor could any Israelite permanently lose his inheritance."

Day 35
PICTURE: yep...i forgot to take a picture today. I meant to take a pic of my friend, Becca, and I at dinner. I totally spaced it.
READING: Leviticus 22-23. God reminds the Israelites, often, of who He is and what He has done for them. I can't help but wonder how many daily reminders God gives me that I completely overlook....

Leviticus 22:31-33 "Keep my commands and follow them. I am the LORD. Do not profane my holy name. I must be acknowledged as holy by the Israelites. I am the LORD who makes you holy and who brought you out of Egypt to the your God. I am the LORD."

Day 34
PICTURE: my new humidifier! I finally sleep well and don't wake up with sneezes or bloody noses. It is so nice to have moisture in my house and not have to boil water.

READING: Leviticus 19-21. "Consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am the LORD your God. Keep my decrees and follow them. I am the LORD, who makes you holy." Leviticus 20:7-8
As I read this, I realized that God does not want us to be holy for other people. We are to be holy because HE, the one who made us, is holy. He is the only one who can make us holy, restore us.

Day 33
PICTURE: icicles. The pic is worth a thousand words!

READING: Leviticus 16-18. Leviticus 16:34 says, "'This is to be a lasting ordinance for you: Atonement is to be made once a year for all the sins of the Israelites.'" I can't imagine the burden of sin and having to wait a year for it to be "reconciled" with God. Every day that I read I am that much more grateful for the offering of Jesus. It allows me to approach the throne MYSELF and be reconciled IMMEDIATELY!

Day 32
A new month! Thank you to those of you who read this and are praying for me as I continue this journey. It has been good for me and somewhat therapeutic.
PICTURE: SNOW!!!! This is my front step at 8:30 pm. Needless to say, it is definitely snowing!

READING: Leviticus 14-15. This is tough stuff to read. I have been praying for God to keep my heart open to Him and what He wants me to learn through this particular book. I wrote the following in my journal:

All I can think is, "Praise God for the gift of His Son. Otherwise I would constantly be unclean, or in ceremonial cleansing, or offering sacrifices." Was it really possible to keep up with all of this? It seems like the Tent of Meeting had become a slaughter house for sacrifices.

Day 31
PICTURE: boiling water. My house is sooooo dry and I need to get a humidifier. Until then, this is how I get some moisture into my home.

READING: Leviticus 11-13. vs 11:45 "I am the LORD who brought you up out of Egypt to be your God; therefore be holy, because I am holy." Such a powerful command. I know I have seen it several places in scripture. God is holy. He has rescued us time and time again. Therefore, we need to heed to His command....be holy, because God is holy.

Day 30
READING: Leviticus 8-10. Leviticus 9:23-24 "Moses and Aaron then went into the tent of meeting. When they came out, they blessed the people; and the glory of the LORD appeared to all the people. Fire came out from the presence of the LORD and consumed the burnt offering and the fat portions on the altar. And when all the people saw it, they shouted for joy and fell facedown." I think this pretty much sealed the deal for Moses - proving to the Israelites that what he was saying was legit.

Day 29
PICTURE: nose prints. This is what my front window looks like in the house. I live at a T in the road and Linus loves to watch the goings on of the neighborhood. Thus, my window constantly looks like this! (It's a good thing he's so darn cute.)

READING: Leviticus 5-7. More rules and laws for sacrifices. I'm beyond grateful for Jesus sacrifice once for all. I am overwhelmed just reading this and I can't imagine how the Israelites felt when Moses shared all of this with them.
