Day 31

PICTURE: boiling water. My house is sooooo dry and I need to get a humidifier. Until then, this is how I get some moisture into my home.

READING: Leviticus 11-13. vs 11:45 "I am the LORD who brought you up out of Egypt to be your God; therefore be holy, because I am holy." Such a powerful command. I know I have seen it several places in scripture. God is holy. He has rescued us time and time again. Therefore, we need to heed to His command....be holy, because God is holy.

Day 30

PICTURE: Linus (again) happy on his CLEAN blanket! I know I have posted pics of Linus with blankets, and have mentioned how much he loves them. Well, he has 2 of his very own blankies and I washed them both last night. He has a blue one on the floor of my bedroom and he has one on the couch. I no sooner put his blankie on the couch before he was up, wadding it up under him, and getting comfy. I love this dog!

READING: Leviticus 8-10. Leviticus 9:23-24 "Moses and Aaron then went into the tent of meeting. When they came out, they blessed the people; and the glory of the LORD appeared to all the people. Fire came out from the presence of the LORD and consumed the burnt offering and the fat portions on the altar. And when all the people saw it, they shouted for joy and fell facedown." I think this pretty much sealed the deal for Moses - proving to the Israelites that what he was saying was legit.

Day 29

PICTURE: nose prints. This is what my front window looks like in the house. I live at a T in the road and Linus loves to watch the goings on of the neighborhood. Thus, my window constantly looks like this! (It's a good thing he's so darn cute.)

READING: Leviticus 5-7. More rules and laws for sacrifices. I'm beyond grateful for Jesus sacrifice once for all. I am overwhelmed just reading this and I can't imagine how the Israelites felt when Moses shared all of this with them.

Day 28

PICTURE: bed head! I might be the only person that appreciates my bed head. It makes me giggle every morning, no lie. Last night I slept with my hood up all night and this is the result.

READING: Leviticus 1-4. WOW....lots of rules to follow. I won't lie, I really struggle to grasp the concept behind all of them. Then I noticed a little "side note" in my Bible (it's not a study Bible, but every now and then it throws in some good notes).

The sequence of the sacrifices furnishes part of the spiritual significance of the sacrificial system:
1. sin had to be dealt with
2. the worshiper committed himself completely to God
3. fellowship between the Lord, priest, and worshiper was established

I found this as a guide. Sure we don't have to offer blood and burnt offerings (Jesus took care of that), but we can still follow the example.
1. We need to deal with our sin by acknowledging it to God.
2. We need to lay our lives at the feet of Jesus.
3. We need fellowship between God, Jesus, and our self.

Day 27

PICTURE: Amanda and Dina. This is my very good friend, Amanda. She is the sweetest gal! We've barely known each other a year and it feels like we have been friends forever. We had a girls' night tonight: Hacienda, conversation, singing to music, and great laughs. Love this girl!

READING: Exodus 38-40. Exodus 40:34-38...read it right now here! The Glory of the LORD, God himself, dwelt amongst the Tabernacle. How awesome is that...what a sight!

I have finished another book of the Bible! I cannot believe it!!!! I had written a question in my Bible at the end of Exodus. It says, "Do you believe that God can use you as he used Moses? Are you willing to let God use you?" I have really been thinking about this as I have read through Exodus. I challenge you, readers, to think about this as well. I know I am ready for God-sized things to happen in my life (and maybe a little nervous that they really will)!

Day 26

PICTURE: classroom library. I love love love books and I love getting my kids interrested in them. This is our reorganized classroom library (thanks to PTO for the shelves). We have been encouraged to start organizing our libraries. My kiddos helped me with this over Thanksgiving week. I just now took a pic.

READING: Exodus 35-37. The people are bringing items for the construction of the tabernacle. I love this because they all have a part in the building of God's dwelling place. I think this gives the people more ownership and worship after years of fighting and turning their back on God.

Day 25

PICTURE: cow eyes. We had Family Fun Night at SES. Science Central came and we did activities all about the human body. I volunteered for the eye station....and I got to show kids (and parents) a disected cow eye. We got to touch the parts and squeeze a fully assembled one. IT WAS AWESOME!!!!

READING: Exodus 31-34. Verse 32:1b says "Come make us gods who will go before us." The Israelites were tired of waiting on Moses to come down from his meeting with God on the mountain. So, rather than be patient, they went to Aaron and made this request. I found myself reflecting on the numerous times that I have gotten tired of waiting on God and taken matters into my own hands. It never goes well, as the Israelites also found out. God's timing is perfect and HE knows what and when is best for us.

Day 24

PICTURE: Linus's usual evening. This is what Linus does when I work at night. Tonight I am catching up on computer stuff and school stuff in my office. Normally we are on the couch and his head is on my lap. I LOVE MY PUPPY! He is the bestest.

READING: Exodus 28-30. So many strict ceremonial rules to follow! PRAISE JESUS for his sacrifice so that I can freely approach the throne of grace with confidence.

Day 23

PICTURE: Bears vs Packers. This is how I spent Sunday afternoon...watching my favorite football team. Unfortunately the Bears lost, but I still bleed blue and orange.

READING: Exodus 24-27. SO MUCH TO TAKE IN....I find myself jealous that these men really "saw God." I also love the imagery of Exodus 24:17, "To the Israelites the glory of the Lord looked like a consuming fire." How awesome! That is exactly what God is...a consuming fire. He purifies us and provides light.

Day 22

PICTURE: Upward Basketball. I love being a part of this. I have a great team of kiddos. They are very selfless and enjoyable. They truly are a blessing :)

READING: Exodus 21-23. LOADS of laws. I can't help but wonder if these were upheld, enforced, possible. What happened if they were broken? Who delivered the punishment? God? man? Just some questions...

Day 21

PICTURE: basketball. I LOVE BASKETBALL!!!! I love coaching, watching, playing, and just being in a gym. One of the best things about basketball season is spending time with my daddy too!
READING: Exodus 17-20. I just have a verse to share....Exodus 20:20 "Moses said to the people, 'Do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so that the fear of God will be with you to keep you from sinning.'" I liked this and needed to hear it.

Day 20

PICTURE: Room 410.
This is where I spend my work week. I love this place. And this room has a little rule that gets instilled every now and again, "what happens in room 410 stays in room 410." Haha...yep, I love it!

READING: Exodus 14-16. Exodus 14:13-14 "Moses answered, 'Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.'" Seven verses later, God parted the Red Sea and saved the Israelites from the Egyptians. CAN YOU IMAGINE!?
