Day 4

PICTURE: My classroom. I love this place. I love being a teacher. I love the environment. I love the stories that the walls of this room could tell. And I LOVE my kiddos (even though they aren't in this pic).

READING: Genesis 13-17. Two chunks hit me today...

Genesis 16:2 "Sarai says to Abram, 'The LORD has kept me from having children. Go, sleep with my maidservant (Hagar); perhaps I can build a family through her.'"

Genesis 17:3-8 "Abram fell facedown, and God said to him, 'As for me, this is my covenant with you: You will be the father of many nations. No longer will you be called Abram; your name will be Abraham, for I have made you a father of many nations. I will make you very fruitful; I will make nations of you, and kings will come from you. I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you. The whole land of Canaan, where you now reside as a foreigner, I will give as an everlasting possession to you and your descendants after you; and I will be their God.'”

I can SOOOOOOOOOO relate to Sarai and Abram.... So often God does not answer prayers in the time frame that I think he should. I tend to do just like Sarai and Abram, taking matters into my own hand. Well, after Hagar conceives Abram's child, Sarai is ticked off! She hates the outcome and is mad at Abram (he was only doing what she asked). All of this because they didn't trust that God would follow through on his promise. The we get to chapter 17 and find God, yet again, reminding Abram of the covenant and promise that HE made with Abram. Even after Abram blatantly distrusted him, God holds fast to his promise.

AWESOME!

  2. Do you think Abram would have done this if Sarai hadn't suggested it? Sure, he made the final decision, but she suggested it....just saying. (Same goes for Eve)
